H(enry) G(abbert) Bristow is Dr. Bristow’s brother (b. Aug. 21, 1824); he remained in Illinois after Elijah Bristow’s left in 1848. After Dr. Bristow and family departed in 1851, Henry Gabbert B. travelled westward along a more southern route, first to the sothern coast where he boarded a steamer to continue his journey west to the Gold Rush. After leaving behind the Gold Rush in California he headed north towards Portland by steamer and finally came to settle near the rest of the Bristows for several years, but finally returned to Illinois a few years later (in __?___).
